President Rivlin heeft zojuist een verklaring doen uitgaan n.a.v. het overlijden van de 47-jarige rabbijn Achiad Ettinger. De verklaring (engels) hebben wij hieronder integraal overgenomen.
De rabbijn is vader van 12 kinderen. Rabbijn Ettinger raakte bij de terreuraanslag gisteren in Samaria ernstig gewond en heeft de aanval helaas niet overleefd. Baruch Dayan haEmed, moge zijn ziel gebundeld worden in de bundel van het eeuwige leven.

President Reuven (Ruvi) Rivlin today, Monday 18 March / 11 Adar I, commented on the death of Rabbi Achiad Ettinger ז”ל, who was critically injured in yesterday’s terrorist attack:
“Heart-breaking news of the death of Rabbi Achiad Ettinger ז”ל who was injured in yesterday’s terrible terrorist attack that also claimed the life of First Sergeant Gal Keidan.
I was able to get to the hospital yesterday to be with his family who were praying for his recovery. I embraced them on behalf of all Israelis and was overwhelmed by their strength.
Rabbi Ettinger’s life’s work will continue and be amongst us even after his passing, and the strength he gave his pupils and the community he led will continue to strengthen us through the enormous grief and sorrow.”
