Nederlands-joodse organisaties gesloten na aanslagen VS

Na de verschillende terroristische aanslagen in de Verenigde Staten, hebben vrijwel alle joodse organisaties in Nederland hun gebouwen tijdelijk gesloten. Scholen, de Joodse Gemeente Amsterdam (NIHS), het Joods Jongeren Centrum en de joodse gemeenten zijn vandaag dicht. Men laat weten dat de sluiting een voorzorgsmaatregel is. Sommige organisaties zeggen dat zij vandaag gesloten zijn vanwege "geruchten dat men het wellicht ook op joodse doelen heeft voorzien". Volgens rabbijn Evers heerst er onder de joodse gemeenschap in Nederland grote bezorgdheid over de aanslagen in Amerika. David Serphos van de NIHS ontkent echter ten stelligste dat joodse instellingen in Nederland bedreigd zijn.

"Dit is een logische maatregel," zei de heer Serphos van de Nederlands-Israëlietische Hoofdsynagoge (de Joodse Gemeente Amsterdam). "Maar er is totaal geen sprake van dreiging. Waarschijnlijk gaan we morgen gewoon weer open."Er bestaat een grote kans dat de terroristische aanslagen op de torens van het World Trade Center in New York en het Pentagon in Washington verband houden met de situatie in het Midden-Oosten. In de Arabische wereld en de Palestijnse gebieden wordt Amerika gezien als bondgenoot van Israël en kapitalistische vijand.In Israël is vandaag een dag van nationale rouw afgekondigd en men is in opperste staat van paraatheid. Ook Israëlische ambassades zijn gesloten of extra beveiligd. De Israëlische ambassade in Den Haag is weer geopend, maar de beveiliging is aangescherpt. De Israëlische vliegvelden zijn vooralsnog gesloten voor verkeer, met uitzondering van El Al. Ook de Nederlandse maatschappij KLM vliegt nog niet op Amerika, Canada en het Midden-Oosten. Op vliegveld Ben Goerion in Tel Aviv mogen alleen El Al-toestellen landen en vertrekken.De Israëlische president heeft Israëlische solidariteit met de Verenigde Staten geüit. Hij hield de volgende speech:"On behalf of the people of Israël, I wish to send our deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the American people, President Bush and the entire United States government, following the terrorist attacks against the United States and against our common values.The fight against terror is an international struggle of the free world against the forces of darkness who seek to destroy our liberty and our way of life.
